League of Legends Fiddlesticks Rework: Riot Games provides big LoL update

Over 1,500 LoL fans have commented on a Reddit post showcasing the new League of Legends Fiddlesticks Rework. And that should tell you something about the hype building around the new design and its LoL implications. The main topics being talked about right now is the changes to the Fiddlesticks abilities list and how much more ghastly the Scarecrow will be to face.

Commenting on the Harmless Scarecrow effect, among others, one LoL fan posted: “It’s not even gonna affect me because the duration of the fear is gonna be wasted on my jumping out of my chair anyway.

“Man with the right team comp, team fights with fiddle might be a nightmare.”

So it appears that Riot Games has completed its goal of updating Fiddlesticks to become the most terrifying champion in League of Legends.

A message from the LoL dev team adds: “As an utterly inhuman entity (regardless of what its true origins are), Fiddle lacks internal organs, a brain to think, or vocal chords to form sentences.

“Any type of voice it might have wouldn’t sound like a person, but rather a projection:

“Just as a scarecrow is the crude facsimile of a human being, its voice could be a crude mimicry of people it has come across/killed.

“We’re still super excited about this direction, and it’s something we want to implement for its VO.”

There’s been no release date set for the new Fiddlestick Rework but the first step will be for it to launch in the Public Beta Environment. It would make sense for this to go live in the coming weeks, meaning a launch in early April is possible on PC.

A list of the major changes can be found below, courtesy of The Rift Herald:

Passive – A Harmless Scarecrow: “Fiddlesticks’ trinket is replaced by Scarecrow Effigies that look exactly like Fiddlesticks. Effigies grant vision like regular wards. Enemy champions who approach an effigy activate it, causing the effigy to fake a random action (ex. basic attacking or casting Crowstorm), after which the effigy destroys itself.

“Fiddlesticks can hold up to two Effigies at once. Effigy cooldown decreases and duration increases with Fiddlesticks’ level. At level 6, placing an Effigy reveals nearby wards for 6 seconds.”

E – Reap: “Fiddlesticks damages and slows enemies in a crescent-shaped area in front of itself. Enemies in the center of the crescent are also silenced.”

Terrify Passive – Active: “Terrify the target and damage them based on their current health. If this ability is cast on an enemy that was recently terrified, they take double damage instead of being terrified again.”

Fiddlesticks is a living scarecrow who stalks the darkness, wielding a scythe and preying upon the unwary. Once a lonely man accused of bringing famine to his village, he was tied up and left to starve in his own barren field.

Resurrected by the savage murder of crows that fed on his remains, Fiddlesticks now relishes terrorizing his victims before claiming their lives amid a flurry of feathers and blood-splattered beaks.
