God Of War Ragnarok PlayStation Store Listing Backs Up Q4 Window

God of War Ragnarok is confirmed for this year, according to the official PlayStation Store, but when this year? That’s a question that’s still hard to answer. A merch store in the UK pointed at a September release date thanks to pre-orders for some God of War goodies, but a Twitter account that tracks changes to the PlayStation database has revealed that September release may have been pushed back.

The @PlaystationSize account has been busy lately thanks to all the recent game announcements. First there was Stray’s July 19 release, and then there was TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge June 16 date. Now the same account is saying God of War Ragnarok’s internal database release date has been pushed from September 30 to December 31.

As the account itself notes, both dates could be placeholders as Sony hasn’t said anything through official channels. The PlayStation store still lists Ragnarok as coming in "2022," but doesn’t get any more specific than that.

But there is plenty of evidence to suggest that Ragnarok will come this year. South Korea’s rating agency just gave God of War Ragnarok a "not available for youth" rating thanks to violence and depictions of drugs and alcohol. Atreus will also swear a few times, which is an interesting spoiler.

Ryan Hurst, the voice of Thor, recently confirmed that voicework had wrapped on God of War Ragnarok, which is another solid indicator of where Santa Monica is at in terms of Ragnarok’s development.

Summer Game Fest kicks off tomorrow and Sony is a listed partner. We could finally see a release date appear then. In the meantime, a recent leak pointed to God of War hitting PlayStation Plus for June, so it’s the perfect time to get caught up ahead of the sequel’s big announcement.
