GIRLGAMER Esports Festival heads to Dubai for World Finals

GIRLGAMER Esports Festival is taking its World Finals to Dubai, UAE on December 12-14th.

The event, which will be hosted at the Meydan Grandstand, will include a business conference and an awards ceremony alongside the main competition.

Fernando Pereira, President of Grow uP eSports discussed the venture: “We are very enthusiastic about bringing our event to Dubai and incredibly happy to have found such amazing partners to join us in the mission towards inclusivity. Diversity is at the heart of everything we do, and the GIRLGAMER World Finals will help bring global attention to the incredible gender equality work being done in the region. We also hope to inspire the young generation to grow up more inclusively and parents to develop better relationships with their children.”

Team Carnage is the only team to secure their spot in Dubai so far, having won the Oceania qualifier in Sydney, Australia. The remaining qualifying events for CS:GO and League of Legends will take place in Seoul, South Korea on September 6th, Madrid, Spain on September 28-29th and São Paulo, Brazil on October 5-6th.

Fahad Abdulrahim Kazim, Vice President of Meydan Malls also commented: “This is a very exciting and proud moment for us. To be partnering with GIRLGAMER to bring one of the world’s most exciting, and forward-thinking esports concepts to the Middle East is a real honour, and something that exemplifies the DNA of Meydan One and solidifies our commitment to the ever-growing world of esports.”

GIRLGAMER Esports Festival is organised by Evoloop and presented by Grow uP eSports. It’s partnered with Critical Hit Entertainment, ROX Gaming, BBL e-SPORTS, and Movistar Riders to expand its reach internationally.

Esports Insider says: While there is much debate on hosting female-only tournaments, it’s important to create opportunities for women to pursue and explore esports. Choosing Dubai as the location for the World Finals is a big statement, however, its great to see GIRLGAMER are committed to bringing esports to the region.
