Game Awards saw ‘weird kid’ invade stage, a bonkers flute player, and Al Pacino

The annual Game Awards ceremony last night was a huge event for the world of gaming. We were treated to some exciting trailers for some incredible games, ranging from sequels to Death Stranding and Hades to new titles like Hellboy.

But all of that was a little overshadowed by some frankly bizarre events during the ceremony itself.

It started with Al Pacino introducing an award for best performer (Christopher Judge, who plays Kratos in God of War).

Pacino admitted he doesn't play videogames and looked a bit confused about why he was even there, but delivered a heartfelt speech all the same.

The strangest moment by far though was the stage invasion. Elden Ring creator Hidetaka Miyazaki had just accepted the award for Game of the Year and made his big speech when a young man with long hair suddenly took the mic to deliver a shout-out to former US president Bill Clinton.

The unidentified individual, who Twitter users described as a 'weird kid', said: "I think I want to nominate this award to my reformed orthodox rabbi Bill Clinton" (to some confused clapping from the audience) before being escorted off the stage by security.

Video footage shows that the man simply followed Miyazaki and the Elden Ring team up to the stage, and stood behind them as Miyazaki delivered his speech. According to Game Awards organisers, he was later arrested.

The weirdness didn't stop there. During a live orchestral performance of the Xenoblade Chronicles soundtrack, gamers noticed one flute player going particularly bonkers on his flute and playing with impressive energy and flourish.

Of course, none of these weird, unpredictable incidents are more important than the games themselves. Company of Heroes 3 coming to consoles would have been enough, but there was also a huge list of new titles that we can't wait to play.
