Spotted with the team in China a month ago at the first Major of the new season, MDL Chengdu, Lee “SunBhie” Jeong-jae was announced today to have officially joined Fnatic in the coach capacity.

SunBhie comes to Fnatic after two years spent with Team Secret, where he was Clement “Puppey” Ivanov’s right hand. With him in the coaching seat, Team Secret have constantly improved their results at The International, and from a 9th-12th finish in 2017, they placed top 6 at TI8 and finished fourth this year at TI9. Under the Team Secret banner, SunBhie brought home three Major and one Minor titles, but in the TI9 aftermath he, along with Yeik “MidOne” Zheng, decided to take a step down from the active roster and return to his home region, Southeast Asia.

“Sunbhie’s work behind the scenes has taken on a wide variety of roles in support of the team’s needs, proving his versatility and friendship. In a more direct manner he has helped with preparation, draft strategy, booth presence, and game analysis – a crucial asset in making adjustments between matches during a series and through a grueling tournament. SunBhie has been with us as an advisor and friend, and has endured all the extreme pressures of the DPC season whilst being our sixth man throughout this journey. We thank him for everything he has done for us, the good times spent together, and wish him the best in his future endeavours,” said Team Secret at the beginning of November when they officially announced the departure of their coach.

A couple of weeks later, SunBhie could be seen during the official stream of MDL Chengdu behind the Fnatic line-up, and even drafting at times for them. Nothing officially was announced until today, December 17, when the SEA team has welcomed him to their ranks with a short Twitter announcement.

Fnatic placed only 9th-12th at the MDL Chengdu Major in November, while their regional adversaries, TNC Predator claimed the title. Both teams have qualified for the second Major of the season as well, and both will fight for supremacy next year at DreamLeague Season 13: The Leipzig Major, taking place January 18-26 at the Leipziger Messe.
