DreamHack partner with Rocket League with four major 2019 tournaments

DreamHack has announced it will expand its wealth of global tournament series’ with the launch of the DreamHack Pro Circuit Rocket League series.

With $100,000 on the line in each of its four stops. DreamHack hopes the new series will attract ‘the best teams in the world, alongside many new challengers’.

Michael Van Driel, Chief Product Officer at DreamHack AB, had this to say: “Having already hosted three international Rocket League tournaments through 2017 and 2018 we’ve seen first hand both the size and passion of the Rocket League audience. The launch of the DreamHack Pro Circuit represents our commitment to Rocket League and we are looking forward to a big year where we can continue to innovate and create four of the most compelling Rocket League championships to date.”

This is not the first time DreamHack has featured Rocket League, in 2017 DreamHack Atlanta hosted the Rocket League Championships. DreamHack hopes to double down on its commitment to Rocket League in 2019, as the game will become one of the events leading esports titles.

Josh Watson, Esports Operations Manager, Psyonix, added: “Over the past two years, we have developed a strong relationship with our partners at DreamHack, and are excited to build upon that success to bring four new live championship events to the Rocket League Esports ecosystem with the introduction of the DreamHack Pro
Circuit. “The DreamHack team has continuously demonstrated that they share Psyonix’s commitment to providing top-tier products and rewarding competitive environments, and we’re looking forward to continuing to work together to make Rocket League a huge success at DreamHack in 2019!”

The first two events have been confirmed, with DreamHack Leipzig in February, DreamHack Dallas in May. It concludes with a stop in the USA in September and one in the EU in July.

Esports Insider says: Rocket League, like Rainbow Six, has had a massive rise in 2018 and news like this from DreamHack will only continue that push. We look forward to seeing what both parties can achieve with these events and the large prize pool is certainly a big boost for the title.
