DJMAX Respect V Grooves Out Of Early Access Next Week
DJMAX Respect V is out on PC via Steam next week, so get your headphones ready.
Where did rhythm games go? To your phones, mostly. The era of Rock Band and Guitar Hero slowly faded away to be replaced by a mobile era of tapping to your tunes. Mostly electronica and house club beats, but that’s just a sign of the times.
Now it’s time to return to the club. DJMAX Respect V might not have you reliving your rock band fantasies, but it will make you believe in becoming a hit DJ practically overnight.
For the uninitiated, DJMAX is a long-standing franchise of rhythm games from South Korean publisher Neowiz. Originally released in 2004, DJMAX quickly took over the arcade dance game scene and even invaded portable systems like the PSP. The latest game, DJMAX Respect, arrived on PlayStation 4 back in 2017 in Asia and 2018 in North America and Europe. It’s got pretty good reviews over on Metacritic, so if you’re looking for a rhythm game, this is probably the best one out there.
DJMAX Respect V, the PC port, released on Steam Early Access late last year. Since then it’s gained a strong following and rave user reviews with 91%. And now it’s coming out of Early Access with an official launch on March 12.
What does DJMAX Respect get from jumping to mouse and keyboard? Obviously some remapped controls to make playing on a keyboard easier. You can map the SC Chart controls to 10 different keys to make tapping to the music more comfortable than on the controller. Other PC-exclusive content includes Air Mode, which lets you play or just listen to the tune, Open Mode which lets you compete in a game with up to 7 players, and online Ladder Mode, which is 1v1 competitive with player rankings, seasons, and a pick-and-ban feature.
There are also over 140 songs with exclusive tracks just for PC. Some of those tracks are from League of Legends. Why? Because Neowiz are huge LoL fans, so they reached out to Riot for a collab.
Early Access players get a free 10$ DLC pack when the game goes live, which has its own trailer. Get ready to spin on March 12.
