Aladdin and Lion King Remasters Now Come In Genesis Clamshell And SNES-Style Boxes

Disney Studios’ 2019 was highlighted by the immense box office success of the remakes of Aladdin and The Lion King, and in true 90s fashion, the legendary games based on the original titles are back in all their pixelated glory. With the release of Disney Classic Games: Aladdin and The Lion King, two excellent platformers made their way to current gen consoles for gamers young and old alike to experience the days of simple game mechanics and nightmarish difficulty.

Nintendo Switch owners are now able to pick up a Retro Edition of the title that includes a clamshell case or a cartridge box version of both games to honor the original releases on the Sega Genesis and SNES respectively. A poster and proper instruction manual also comes packaged with the special edition priced at $49.99.

For those who are a few generations removed from these titles, both Aladdin and The Lion King were sensational games at a time where Disney games were common and of solid quality. Retro gamers can debate which console had the better version of either game, but these games were known for their fantastic soundtrack, level design and varying levels of difficulty.

One can imagine that if this compilation is successful, Disney may move to bring back its impressive library of games from days past. A compilation of the Mickey Mouse games on the Sega Genesis alone would be a must have, as well as a re-release of DuckTales Remastered, which was delisted this past August. Disney Classic Games: Aladdin and The Lion King’s Retro Edition is now available exclusively at Best Buy.
