Dr Disrespect to Returns Aug. 7 With YouTube Stream, Will Explore Other Platform Options

Content creator Herschel “Guy” Beahm’s video game alter ego Dr Disrespect will return to YouTube Friday after a long absence from streaming. This marks the first time Beahm has streamed since late-June when he was banned by Twitch

While Beahm will be streaming on YouTube tomorrow at a12 p.m EST, he has not signed an exclusivity agreement with the platform and will continue to explore other options including Facebook Gaming and his own site, ChampionsClub.gg, according to an announcement.

In late June, Beahm was banned by Twitch for reasons still not publicly disclosed by the Amazon-owned streaming platform.

On June 26, a representative from Twitch told The Esports Observer, “As is our process, we take appropriate action when we have evidence that a streamer has acted in violation of our Community Guidelines or Terms of Service. These apply to all streamers regardless of status or prominence in the community.”

On June 27, Beahm noted on Twitter, “Twitch has not notified me on the specific reason behind their decision… Firm handshakes to all for the support during this difficult time.”

In late June after the news that Beahm had been banned from Twitch broke, TEO reached out to several of his sponsors and partners to determine if there was any change in the status of those relationships. Those sponsors include Mountain Dew AMP GAME FUEL (a PepsiCo brand), ROCCAT (owned by Turtle Beach), Gallery Books (an imprint of Gallery Books Group, which is a division of Simon & Schuster), and Skybound Entertainment, among others. None of the companies TEO reached out to responded to requests for comments at the time of writing.

The Twitter account for ROCCAT still features the Dr Disrespect character on its header image and Mountain Dew AMP GAME FUEL continues to list Beahm as a streaming partner.
